April Newsletter - 2022
WELCOME SPRING!
As we enter into this new season, it's hard not to mention what is happening in the Ukraine. This invasion has resulted in the loss of so many innocent lives and uprooted and displaced hundreds of thousands of innocent Ukrainians. Adding this horrific situation to our already difficult "life landscape" adds to our already burdened and heavy hearts. It's difficult to wrap our brains around. This world event also adds another layer of difficulty to help our little ones understand our world and what they might be seeing and hearing in the media.

As we all hope for peace, I believe that many of us continue to feel out of control. If not about the Ukraine, the pandemic may be the main issue you are struggling with. Perhaps you feel out of control with other personal, family, life or societal issues at hand.
So the question is "How do I regain control?"
I think the answer to this question, as difficult as it sounds, is that we have to learn to "LET GO" of the idea of control. Let's try to reframe the word "control" and use the word "manage" instead. Perhaps examine what you have the ABILITY to MANAGE (how much control do we have with anything, really?) and let go of the rest. One way to HELP in the areas we care so deeply about is to get involved or give in some way, then trust those in leadership. (I realize it is easier said than done!)
SO, What can we do for people that live so far in a crisis that is large and looming? Perhaps research and give to one or more of the following organizations. The organizations listed below are asking for assistance to help alleviate the growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. Perhaps, if you do a small part, that may help you feel you have managed a small part of a solution.
ORGANIZATIONS:
UNICEF , Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders , International Committee of the Red Cross , Save the Children , UN Refugee Agency, Voices of Children, United Help Ukraine
I hope these thoughts are helpful as we continue to move through 2022.
Thoughtfully,
Shara Carter
