June Newsletter - 2024

Happy Summer!

With the start of this month, 2024 is halfway over.

Can you believe that? HALF WAY OVER!?

I’m in awe! Now is a good time to reflect on the year, consider what you have accomplished and what is yet to be accomplished. Make sure to give space for grace and remember that accomplishing small tasks can result in moving mountains! What mountains are you working on in life? What goal is sitting "out there" that you feel is too big to take to task? I'd like to share a small piece of my story for encouragement!

When I moved to Tennessee from Virginia I had a goal of 1) starting my own counseling business, and 2) buying my own home one year after arrival. That goal quickly changed when I realized that I’d need two years of working full-time self-employed for the bank to approve a home loan. With my new goal date in mind, I worked backwards with my timeline. I rang in 2024 and I continued working on my goal. I started packing in March. I bought my house in April. I moved in May. I am unpacking and settling in in June, July, August. It’s been a monumental undertaking and there are days that I feel as if I am only moving small amounts of “stuff” from one room to the next, one document to the next. But then I look at those small movements and where it has brought me over the years. Owning my own HOME has been a goal for YEARS. And as I look back—years of schooling, years of earning hours of direct work with clients to earn the LPC, years of moving and transitioning to the Nashville area, years of building a business, I see and know that my “moving small things from one place to the next” can change a life over time.

What monumental task are you working on? It may be raising a child, working with an older parent to understand they need to transition to a new living situation, it may be adjusting to the loss of a loved one, it may be finding a new job or career. All of these transitions take TIME. Give yourself grace in the process and KNOW that the “small moving of things” can move YOUR MOUNTAIN and change YOUR LIFE TOO (and maybe the lives of those around you!)!

June is PTSD awareness month. This is a complex diagnosis that can impact not only the life of the individual living with PTSD, but the lives of those surrounding that individual. I encourage you to seek assistance for yourself or your loved one if you or they are struggling with the impacts of PTSD!

Thanks for being on this life journey with me!

Enjoy the sunshine and if you can, Share a smile!

Warmly yours,
