Greetings!

Don’t you love being able to get away and have a change from the “norm”? I recently attended a professional retreat. It was a nice time away, I was able to talk with other counselors, and broaden and refresh my scope of practice. It reminded me of how important it is to create positive change in routines in order to allow ideas and creativity to flourish. One of our trainings was about using poetry as a tool in the therapeutic process. Here’s one poem from the weekend that I hope resonates with you.

Love After Love

The Time will come

When, with elation,

You will greet yourself arriving

At your own door, in your own mirror,

And each will smile at the other’s welcome,

And say, sit here, Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.

Give wine. Give Bread. Give back your heart

To itself, to the stranger who has loved you

All your life, whom you ignored

For another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf

The photographs, the desperate notes,

Peel Your image from the mirror.

Sit. Feast on your life.

Soak in all that is March, and while you're out there, if you can...
