Teen Counseling

Shara understands that being a teenager can be a difficult and confusing time. Shara considers herself a “bridge” between parent and teen. While keeping confidentiality, Shara works to build trust with her teen client, “hold space” for them, and keep parents in the loop with the appropriate amount of communication and guidance. Sometimes teenagers need someone outside of their immediate family and friends to help them feel heard, understood, and able to process their unique circumstances in a healthy way. Shara’s goal is to help you feel you can not only survive, but thrive in this important time in in your life.

Shara is an experienced former educator (Special Education, Advanced Academic Placement/ Gifted, General Education) and former High School Counselor who will provide individualized care and support, ensuring that you get the help and guidance you need. She also loves working with the deaf community (hearing impaired) and teens/ families that have an IEP (or may need one) and are receiving (may need to receive) special education services. Shara is a support to teens as they walk through the process of seeking out services in the public school setting as well as moving into their college years. She believes in providing a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment, so you can feel comfortable and secure in talking about your feelings and experiences. Shara is here to listen, understand your needs, and will help you find the best possible solutions to your problems.

Note: If you or your teen are deaf or hearing impaired, a thorough screening and introduction must take place to ensure that communication (voice/ASL) is strong enough for sessions to take place. Shara is NOT a certified interpreter.
